Here is another great winter activity in Ocean City Maryland! Alley Oops is new to Coastal Highway and walking distance from Mad Men Beach House! It was the perfect activity on this particularly dreary day for me and my kiddos! My kids loved the arcade. There were so many games with wheels, buttons and hammers my kids enjoyed playing with the games even though I did not pay to play the games! Then we did pay for one game of bowling. It was my twin 3 year olds first bowling experience and it did not disappoint. The bumpers helped my kids knock down the pins every time. There is also a great bar area and dine in restaurant. It even has a fish tank with sharks! This place has thought of everything! The best things I have to say about this place is that it is open 7 days a week, all year round! So, any time of year, a rainy summer beach day or a dreary winter day this place is where it is at!

One up and coming Maryland breweries that is now drawing people from all over the country is the Burely Oak Brewing Company in Berlin, Maryland which is an easy 15-20min drive from Ocean City, Maryland a popular resort beach town where we own a popular vacation home called “Mad Men Beach House”!
I first heard about Burely Oak at the amazing restaurants in Ocean City that have Burely Oak on tap! Then I started hearing about it from all my craft beer connoisseur friends and family. It became a bucket list activity for the next time I was at our vacation rental “Mad Men Beach House” in Ocean City, Maryland! So, one winter, January 2020 day we finally found our opportunity to explore Berlin, Maryland and more importantly go to the Burely Oak Brewing Company Taproom! We were lucky that we arrived on a new beer release day and I got to try completely original and brand new to the public craft brews! I got to chat with the own and founder Bryan and was so inspired by his story! Finally, I got my flight of finely crafted, brand spankin new beers to try and man, it did not disappoint! This place is definitely worth being on your bucket list and a great “off season”, winter activity when taking a getaway to Ocean City, Maryland! I’ve driven🚐💨 by the Ocean City Library📚 hundreds of times and have wanted to check it out for years! Now, especially with twin 3 year olds I was determined to make the Ocean City Library an event for us this winter! Thankfully we finally got the opportunity this past week🙌 since we were up in Ocean City enjoying the magical winter season at the beach together with my amazing kiddos! I was suprised to learn about so men events and things to do daily with kids! There is story time and toddler play time to name a few. We decided to go the following day to the “play time” and it was great for my kids to explore new educational toys and games.
But the best thing I loved about this Library is their amazing kids zone area👫 with not just books 📖 but a variety of toys, games, arts and crafts 🎨and educational computer games for little ones🖥! It’s a great activity for a rainy beach day☔️ and a winter activity❄️ as well! I’m so glad we found this place! We will be back…often! See the hours of operation and other info below.

Berlin, Maryland voted the “Coolest Small Town In America” by Budget Travel is less than a 30 minute drive from Mad Men Beach House and the perfect winter activity when visiting Ocean City, Maryland in the “off season”!
We had our first experience exploring this quant little town in January of 2020. It was a brisk day but there is something magical about bundling up and hoping around from tea rooms to bakeries to bars to antique shops to art galleries! The window shopping is fabulous with a cup of hot coco! We were lucky to hit the last day of Restaurant Week in Berlin, Maryland! We tried tasty bites, treats and brews at multiple hot spots in the area including the Bakery Dessert Cafe, Burely Oak Cafe, and the Black Smith Restaurant!
We explored the Hotel Atlantic where “Runaway Bride” was filmed and hopped into locally owned retail shops like the Viking Tree! The art galleries were aplenty and fantastic. The artists really took the time to share their story and passion with you as you took in their unique gifts to the world! The Wooden Octopus and Jeffrey Auxer Designs were a highlight for sure!
Lastly what is a trip to Berlin, Maryland without checking out one of the most popular craft brewing companies in the country, The Burley Oak Brewing Company! With over 20 beers on tap and more in the cans, it is a must for every beer lover out there! We were lucky to get there on a “release day” for 5 new brews! It was hopping in that tasting room in more senses than one! I loved trying a flight of beers that were so diverse in flavor and colors it was impossible not to take pictures of it’s beauty!
